Foreign direct investment (FDI) realisation in Indonesia reached Rp 250 trillion in the first quarter of 2026, growing 8.5% year-on-year (yoy). This performance contributed 50.1% to the total investment realisation for the same period, which was recorded at Rp 498.8 trillion. Meanwhile, domestic investment (PMDN) was recorded at Rp 248.8 trillion, growing 6% (yoy).

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani stated that there are five countries with the largest investment realisations in Indonesia. These five countries are mostly dominated by Asian nations. Singapore remains the country with the largest investment contribution.

“Singapore has consistently recorded as the largest investing country in Indonesia, namely US$4.6 billion,” said Rosan during a press conference at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM office in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026).

This was followed by Hong Kong with an investment realisation of US$2.7 billion, China US$2.2 billion, the United States (US) US$1.3 billion, and Japan US$1 billion.

In addition to the countries of origin, the distribution of foreign investment is also evident by region. West Java Province became the main destination for foreign investment with a value of US$3.1 billion or approximately Rp 51.15 trillion (based on the state budget exchange rate set at Rp 16,500 per US dollar).

Next, Central Sulawesi at US$1.8 billion (Rp 29.7 trillion), North Maluku US$1.3 billion (Rp 21.45 trillion), and Riau Islands Rp 14.85 trillion (US$900 million).

Looking at business sectors, foreign investment flowed most heavily into the subsector of basic metal industries, metal goods excluding machinery and equipment, with a value of US$3.7 billion or approximately Rp 61.05 trillion.

Then the other services subsector recorded an investment of US$2.1 billion or equivalent to Rp 34.65 trillion. Investment in the mining subsector was recorded at US$1.1 billion or approximately Rp 18.15 trillion.

Furthermore, the subsector of housing, industrial areas, and offices recorded an investment of US$900 million or approximately Rp 14.85 trillion.

The same value was also recorded in the electricity, gas, and water subsector.
