5,955 Joint Personnel Deployed to Secure Demonstrations in Jakarta Today

A joint force of 5,955 personnel has been deployed to secure a series of student demonstrations taking place at various points in Jakarta on Monday. The security operation involves 3,651 police officers supported by 500 military personnel, spread across mass concentration centres to ensure public order.

Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, confirmed the deployment, stating it was an anticipatory measure following similar protests last week along Jalan M.H. Thamrin up to the Bundaran HI area. Traffic management will be implemented situationally depending on the size of the crowds on the ground.

The public has been advised to seek alternative routes to avoid potential congestion around Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and the Senayan area. Police have also urged protest participants to adhere to administrative procedures and maintain public order while expressing their aspirations.
