5,830 Gontor Putri Alumni Gather, KH Hasan Sahal Delivers Educational Message
The Grand Reunion of Gontor Putri Alumni was officially opened at the Auditorium of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) Putri Campus 1 on Saturday (4/7/2026). Attended by 5,830 alumni from the classes of 1994 to 2025, the event is part of the PMDG Centenary commemoration and serves as a momentum to strengthen the alumni’s commitment to upholding the values of pesantren education.
The solemn opening was attended by members of the PMDG Waqf Board, PMDG Pimpinan K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal, Chairman of the PMDG Centenary Committee Prof. Dr. K.H. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, M.A.Ed., M.Phil., Director of Kulliyyatu-l-Mu’allimin Al-Islamiyyah (KMI) K.H. Masyhudi Subari, M.A., along with other institutional leaders, deputy caregivers, deputy directors of KMI, teachers, and thousands of alumni from various regions.
Pimpinan of PMDG K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal emphasised the importance of education that is oriented towards values, rather than mere interests. "The world today educates and moves because of interests, not because of importance. But pesantren educates and moves because of importance. The world is damaged because there is no education," said Hasan Abdullah Sahal.
In his remarks, Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi affirmed that the role of Gontor alumni remains essential in addressing the challenges of the educational world. "The movement of Gontor alumni is always needed in the world of education today," he stated.
Following the opening, the event continued with the inauguration of an alumni product exhibition and bazaar, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Hasan Abdullah Sahal and Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi. Both then toured the bazaar stands showcasing various works, products, and achievements of Gontor Putri alumni across different fields.
The Grand Reunion of Gontor Putri Alumni takes place over two days, 4-5 July 2026. Various activities are held, ranging from alumni reunions, product exhibitions and bazaars, the Darussalam Centennial Art Show, to talk shows featuring figures from the Gontor Putri alumni. The committee views this reunion not merely as a gathering, but also as a space for reflection for the alumni to reinforce the pesantren values they acquired during their education at Gontor.
