5,000 Menstrual Kits Distributed to Aid Post-Disaster Recovery in Aceh Tamiang
The Srikandi Merah Putih Foundation, together with international and corporate partners, has distributed food, medicine, and 5,000 menstrual hygiene kits to communities affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang through the humanitarian mission ‘A Matter of Dignity Sumatra Relief Initiative’. The programme, held in Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang Regency, involved the Srikandi Merah Putih Foundation, KuCoin, the Global CSR Foundation, the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), and several corporate and community partners.
Aid distributed during the activity included fresh lunches for 500 beneficiaries, 400 food and medicine packages for families, and 5,000 menstrual hygiene kits to support women’s health needs in the affected area.
The mission was previously introduced at a press dinner in Jakarta in February 2026 and was originally scheduled for early April. Implementation finally took place on Saturday (6/6) after schedule adjustments. Despite this, all aid distribution commitments were fulfilled.
Co-Founder of the Srikandi Merah Putih Foundation, Aurelly Syifalia Widihartanto, stated the mission not only focuses on distributing aid but also ensuring affected communities receive dignified treatment. “Today is not merely about aid distribution. Today is a statement that every human being, without exception, has the right to be treated with dignity. Women are often the most affected group during disasters, yet their basic health needs are most frequently overlooked,” Aurelly said in a statement.
The programme also received support from the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. Regional Secretary Tri Kurnia described the aid as a form of care for communities still undergoing recovery following major floods at the end of 2025. “Of all the affected areas, Aceh Tamiang was the most severely hit,” Tri Kurnia said. He expressed hope that the distributed aid would be utilised by the community to meet daily needs during the recovery process.
The programme is an expansion of collaboration between AMWA Global Health Lead Dr Padmini Murthy and the Global CSR Foundation founded by Jing Zhao Cesarone, later extended to Indonesia through the Srikandi Merah Putih Foundation with the support of Vice President Stefanny Florina. The Menstrual Equity Project, which is part of the programme, was previously implemented in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Republic of Suriname, and satellite clinics affiliated with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital before being adapted for Indonesia. Procurement and distribution of the menstrual hygiene kits were supported by KuCoin through CSR Director and Global Human Resources Director Sylvie Dong. “Corporate responsibility means being present in a tangible way when communities are affected by disasters,” said Sylvie Dong.
Medicine distribution was led by Maha Medicare, while food distribution was supported by Wiraraja Indonesia. Logistical support was also provided by J&T Cargo to ensure all aid arrived on time in Aceh Tamiang. The activity was attended by Indonesian public figures, including Ririn Dwi Ariyanti as ambassador for the A Matter of Dignity for Sumatra mission. Nadya Shakira Tuzahra, Dame Aning, and Metta Permadi also participated in supporting the campaign on women’s health and access to basic services.
