499th Anniversary: Jakarta's Strategy to Provide Clean Water Access for Residents
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta continues to strive to provide easy access to clean water services for residents. Various efforts are being made, one of which is through the connection of PAM Jaya clean water pipes.
"PAM Jaya currently has a considerable task and mandate to complete water distribution by 2029 in accordance with the mandate of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung," said PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin at the Water Hero event in Jakarta, Friday (26/6/2026).
He explained that the clean water pipe connections have currently reached 13,200 km. The company is targeting to add approximately another 2,000 km by 2029.
"So our total pipes currently have reached 13,200 km in Jakarta. And there are still more than 2,000 km left, Sir, that we must complete," he said.
He explained that the effort to provide clean water access does not stop there. The company will also build a clean water treatment plant in West Jakarta.
"God willing, it won’t be long before an additional water treatment installation is built in West Jakarta. In fact, there will later be a reservoir in Angke Polor which will become the first reservoir managed by the regional-owned enterprise PAM Jaya. This is one of our breakthrough innovations," he explained.
Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he is optimistic about meeting the target of 100% clean water availability in Jakarta by 2029.
"When I declared that by 2029 clean water in Jakarta would be 100%, surely at that time many people did not believe it. It is indeed our typical nature, if we are not encouraged, not whipped, and not pushed, we will certainly just stay where we are. And now PAM Jaya’s achievement is already 82%, and I am confident there are still three years left so the 100% target can definitely be met," said Pramono.
In addition, Pramono also advised to continue prioritising professionalism in work. According to him, professionalism can drive a company or institution to achieve its targets.
"I have said repeatedly that professionalism is the key word if PAM Jaya wants to advance. Therefore, in running the company’s management wheel, I convey that no one is allowed to intervene in PAM Jaya," he concluded.
