Kediri (ANTARA) — A total of 485 elderly residents in Kediri, East Java, have received Phase I funding from the Programme Keluarga Harapan (PKH) Plus conditional cash transfer scheme.

Head of the Kediri Social Affairs Office, Imam Muttakin, explained that the total number of PKH Plus recipients for 2026 stands at 485 people, comprising 436 existing recipients and 49 new ones. The data was drawn from the PKH register, with eligibility criteria requiring recipients to be over 70 years of age and in the most vulnerable conditions.

“The nominations are made by sub-district offices, verified by PKH facilitators, and subsequently proposed to the East Java provincial government accompanied by a referral letter from the social affairs office,” he said in Kediri on Monday.

He stated that the disbursement mechanism operates on a quarterly basis, with each recipient receiving Rp500,000 per instalment. Recipients collect the funds in person to ensure the data remains accurate.

Regarding the technical process of collecting the assistance, he noted that conditions have been eased. Previously, recipients were not permitted to hold a single-household family card (KK), but eligibility is now more broadly defined.

“In previous years, recipients could not be on a single-household family card. This year, however, the requirement is simply that the recipient be an elderly person in general, regardless of their family card status,” he said.

Imam explained that recipients must come in person to Bank Jatim to collect the funds.

During the process, the Kediri Social Affairs Office conducts oversight and monitoring to ensure the PKH disbursement runs smoothly and reaches the intended targets, given that the programme is aimed at the elderly.

Recipients must also bring the required documentation when collecting their funds.

“The requirements for collecting the assistance are that recipients must bring their savings book and original identity card. If someone is collecting on their behalf, they must present a power of attorney letter from the local sub-district office,” he said.

Imam expressed hope that the assistance would be put to the best possible use by the elderly to meet their nutritional and daily needs, particularly during the month of Ramadan and in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr.

“Use this assistance wisely, perhaps to meet basic needs and support better welfare and nutrition,” Imam said.

Meanwhile, one of the recipients, Damis, a resident of Pojok sub-district in Kediri, said she had received the assistance four times (covering 12 months) and described the disbursement process as having run smoothly without any issues.

“Thank God it has been smooth, and the officers have been helpful. This assistance is very useful because I am no longer working. I usually use it to buy rice and daily necessities,” she said.
