478 Regional House of Representatives Chairmen Attend Local Leadership Enhancement Course at Akmil Magelang
Magelang (ANTARA) - As many as 478 DPRD chairmen from across Indonesia have arrived to participate in the Local Leadership Enhancement Course (KPPD), packaged as a national retreat at the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang. Of the total 557 invited participants, the remainder are estimated to still be en route and will soon join. Lemhannas Governor TB Ace Hasan Syadzily in Magelang on Wednesday stated that the event will run for the next five days and is a programme of the Republic of Indonesia’s National Resilience Institute, with this batch held at Akmil. The KPPD programme has previously been provided to local heads, including governors, regents, and mayors. Specifically for DPRD chairmen, this event is held within the Military Academy environment to instil a spirit of patriotism and nationalism amid increasingly complex global dynamics. He explained that the programme is the result of cooperation between Lemhannas RI and various DPRD associations at both provincial and regency/city levels across Indonesia. The main objective of the event is to shape DPRD leaders into statesmen with strong leadership character, integrity, and the ability to carry out strategic roles in the national governance system. Furthermore, he said, participants are expected to be able to support and oversee national programmes, including the development agenda outlined by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. During the event, participants will receive intensive briefing through the internalisation of the four national consensuses, as well as understanding of the global geopolitical challenges facing Indonesia. In addition, various central government strategic programmes will be directly presented by members of the Merah Putih Cabinet. He mentioned that several state officials are scheduled to attend as speakers, including the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Environment, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman, who will provide material on strengthening the integrity of local leaders. The attendance of other ministries is still in the confirmation stage. Akmil Governor Major General TNI Rano Tilaar welcomed the participants of the 2026 Local Leadership Enhancement Course retreat at the Graha Utama Akmil Building as a synergy of local leadership. He emphasised that the Military Academy, as an officer education institution for the Indonesian Army, upholds values of discipline, leadership, and dedication to the nation and state. According to him, these values are expected to provide inspiration and motivation for participants in following the entire series of retreat activities. He hopes that this event will be able to produce constructive ideas, strengthen commitments, and foster a spirit of togetherness in supporting regional progress and national development.
