477 Students from Across Indonesia to Study at SMA Taruna Nusantara Campus in Nusantara Capital City
SMA Taruna Nusantara is completing the ecosystem of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), reflecting the trust placed by one of the nation’s leading educational institutions in delivering quality educational facilities to Indonesia’s new capital. A total of 477 students from various regions are pursuing their education at the SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN Campus, located in the KIPP of the new capital in Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. “The 2026/2027 academic year for SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN is ready to commence operations,” said SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN Headmaster Brigadier General TNI Rudi Setiawan on Wednesday in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara. “477 students from various regions across Indonesia will undertake their education in the new academic year,” he revealed. The student body comprises 237 students who will advance to Grade XI and are scheduled to arrive at IKN on 9 July 2026. This cohort is the first batch of SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN, having previously studied at SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang while the IKN campus was still under construction. Additionally, 240 new Grade X students will first undergo Basic Discipline Education (PDK) in Magelang for three months, Rudi continued, and will join the IKN campus in early October 2026. SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN currently has 37 teaching and caregiving staff and 72 administrative staff, Rudi noted, adding that the number of staff will be continually adjusted in line with the growing student population and the school’s development. SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN is one of three new SMA Taruna Nusantara campuses being built outside Java, alongside new campuses in Langowan (North Sulawesi) and Pagar Alam (South Sumatra), as part of efforts to broaden access to quality education for Indonesia’s young generation. Special Staff to the Head of the IKN Authority for Public Communication and IKN Authority Spokesperson Troy Pantouw stated that SMA Taruna Nusantara completes the KIPP IKN ecosystem as a form of trust from a premier national educational institution, aimed at providing quality educational infrastructure in Indonesia’s new capital. The presence of SMA Taruna Nusantara aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive on the importance of excellent schools in preparing national cadres with strong character, integrity, and a patriotic spirit. SMA Taruna Nusantara in IKN is also expected to open opportunities for broader collaboration, ultimately strengthening the new capital’s position as a city of educational excellence while simultaneously driving the development of other strategic sectors, Troy Pantouw concluded.
