463 MBG Kitchens Suspended, BGN Chief Reveals Causes

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana has revealed that his agency is currently reorganising and verifying the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), or implementing kitchens, of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme across Indonesia. In the data screening process, BGN has designated 27,022 SPPG out of a total of 27,485 registered units. Meanwhile, 463 other SPPG have been temporarily suspended due to a number of administrative issues and incomplete data.

“Today we report that we are sorting out all 27,485, then we screen them, and we have issued SPPG designation letters. So the SPPG serve where, serve which schools, we have designated 27,022. The remaining 463 we have suspended because their profiles are incomplete and so on,” Dadan said after meeting the Minister of Finance on Friday (28/8/2026).

Dadan explained that from further verification of the 463 suspended SPPG, a number of units were found unfit to continue programme operations. Seven SPPG were identified as problematic, ranging from kitchens that had long been non-operational to kitchen locations that could not be found.

“Then we found from the 463 that we suspended, there are seven, it turns out the kitchens are kitchens that have long been non-operational. There are also kitchens that do not exist, so we exclude these, we clean them up, we suspend them permanently,” he said.

BGN has therefore decided to strike these seven SPPG from the list of MBG implementers and impose a permanent suspension. Meanwhile, the status of the hundreds of other SPPG still under suspension will be determined after the verification and data correction process is completed.

This restructuring measure is being carried out to ensure that the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals programme runs on target and is supported by kitchens that are truly ready to operate and serve beneficiaries in the designated schools.
