460 Hajj Officials Depart for the Holy Land Today
All Hajj officials for the Airport Area and Madinah have checked in at Pondok Gede and received briefings before departure. Tangerang (ANTARA) - A total of 460 officials from the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) were dispatched to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten, on Friday (17/4). “Today, the Airport Area and Madinah are being dispatched, while the Makkah Area, God willing, will be sent tomorrow. In total, around 400 officials are departing for Saudi Arabia today,” said PPIH Airport and Madinah Area Official in the Accommodation Sector, Eman Sulaiman, in Tangerang on Friday. He explained that hundreds of officials are being sent to provide services and guidance to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia. They are drawn from elements of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), TNI/Polri, and community groups. During the Hajj season, he said, PHI officials will be placed in two main work areas, namely at the airport and the Madinah region. Eman noted that the departure of these hundreds of officials is being carried out in stages according to the division of work areas. They, he said, are scheduled to be in Saudi Arabia for approximately 77 days, with the main focus on providing all services, including to elderly pilgrims (lansia). “Our task is to ensure that all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims receive the best services, from accommodation to other needs. All services have been mapped according to each sector and work area,” he explained. As planned, the departure of prospective Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will begin on 21 April 2026. With the early departure of the officials, he continued, it is hoped that the entire pilgrim service process can run optimally during the Hajj season.
