45,000 to join entrance test tryout

JAKARTA (JP): As many as 450,000 third grade senior high
school students from all over the country are expected to gather
at Senayan main stadium here on April 6 for the university
entrance test tryout.

The gathering, sponsored by privately-run Tiara Indonesia
Foundation and Teknos, an organization dealing with education, is
also intended to enhance relationships among students in
Indonesia.

Bagia Mulyadi, chairman of Teknos, said 17,000 students were
expected from the Greater Jakarta area, 8,000 from Central and
East Java, 4,500 from Sumatra, 4,500 from Kalimantan and
Sulawesi, 4,500 from Maluku and Irian and another 2,000 students
from Bali, East Nusa Tenggara and East Timor.

Bagia's statement did not explain yesterday where all the
students would spend the night or whether the foundation and
Teknos were in charge of the accommodation, the meals and
transportation of the students.

The gathering will be opened by Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana. The
foundation is managed by Mrs. Hardiyanti Rukmana. (sur)
