450 TNI Soldiers Deployed to Guard Indonesia-Papua New Guinea Border

A total of 450 Indonesian Army (TNI) soldiers have been deployed to guard the border between the Republic of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The troops, from the static 117th Ksatria Yudha Infantry Battalion of the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command, departed from Krung Geukueh Public Port in Aceh Utara, Aceh, on Thursday, 2 July 2026. They boarded the Indonesian Navy vessel KRI-592 Banjarmasin, bound for Boven Digoel Regency in South Papua, where they will undertake a 12-month border security mission (Pamtas RI-PNG).
