Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) deployed 450 personnel to secure Lunar New Year celebrations across several locations.

“For the deployment of security personnel for the Lunar New Year celebrations on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, a total of 450 officers were stationed at several locations,” said Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP, Satriadi Gunawan, in Jakarta.

The areas covered included the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Blok M Hub, Kota Tua, and the National Monument (Monas).

In addition, Satpol PP officers were also deployed to various Buddhist temples and Chinese temples spread across the capital’s five administrative cities.

DKI Jakarta’s Satpol PP coordinated with the Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and community organisations across the regions to ensure a safe Lunar New Year celebration for the public.

Beyond Satpol PP, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) also deployed hundreds of personnel to assist with security ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations.

“Polda Metro Jaya deployed 155 personnel, comprising one company-level unit (SSK) from the Samapta Directorate totalling 75 officers and one SSK from the Mobile Brigade (Satbrimob) totalling 80 officers,” said Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto.

Budi explained that for this year’s Lunar New Year security operations, Polda Metro Jaya conducted both overt and covert security measures at a number of places of worship.

“As well as at celebration venues, accompanied by increased patrols in vulnerable areas, public gathering points, and routes leading to Buddhist and Chinese temples,” he said.
