447 Workers Laid Off at PT Granito Kramik, KSPSI to Meet with Government Task Force
The President of the Confederation of All-Indonesia Workers Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, has revealed that approximately 447 of its members who are workers at PT Granito Kramik have been laid off. He stated that he will meet with the company’s leadership to fight for the fate of the workers affected by the termination of employment.
“The ones who have been laid off, currently confirmed, are around 447 of our members at PT Granito. The employer has now conveyed that their status is terminated. In fact, when checked earlier by Mr Yusuf, the Branch Chairman, even when the industrial gas policy was lowered, they still adopted the layoff policy,” Andi Gani explained during a press conference at the KSPSI Executive Board Office in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday (29/6/2026).
Andi Gani said that the workers of PT Granito Kramik are expected to be patient for a while as the government and the union will soon hold discussions regarding their fate. He also mentioned that he will meet the leadership of PT Granito Kramik tomorrow.
“For Granito, ladies and gentlemen, the government will take swift and precise steps to ensure that the workers of PT Granito can return to work. We are doing this so that no one is left behind, so that no one faces hardship,” he said.
“Tomorrow we will discuss the fate of PT Granito, and in the near future I will meet with the company’s leadership because I want to save my members, KSPSI members, as well as the workers there who are not affiliated with KSPSI,” he added.
He also explained that a meeting will be held tomorrow with Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who serves as the Chair of the Layoff Mitigation Task Force, Manpower Minister Yassierli, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and the National Police’s Manpower Desk. This meeting, he said, is to discuss mitigation against the threat of a wave of layoffs.
“This shows the government’s alignment, that what we have conveyed about the difficulties, threats, and critical situation—I say critical because it is not just a threat, it has happened at Granito, our members whose situation was quite good, a very large company, ultimately collapsed because they could not cover the cost of industrial gas,” he added.
Furthermore, Andi Gani explained that the government will take several steps in response to the layoffs at PT Granito Kramik. One of these is to take over or acquire PT Granito Kramik to be managed by the government.
“Friends, in yesterday’s meeting, the government decided specifically for PT Granito, if the employer does not continue, the government will take over. So, that is our commitment,” Andi Gani stated.
“If the company is unable, even though the gas price has been lowered significantly, and still does not continue its business, I emphasise that the government will take over the company for the safety of the workers who have been laid off. There are many ways, or it could be acquired by Danantara, or a new investor could be sought. We are currently exploring these options,” he concluded.
