441 Regional Hospitals to Be Revitalised, Prabowo Targets Advanced Hospitals in Every Region

President Prabowo has stated that the government will build and revitalise 441 regional general hospitals (RSUD). He also aims for every regency and city to have an advanced hospital to accelerate public health services.

“We will build and revitalise 441 regional general hospitals. Each of our 514 regencies and cities must have an advanced hospital that can save people as quickly as possible,” he said during the 2026–2027 DPR RI plenary session, as quoted from the TV Parlemen YouTube channel on Friday, 14 August 2026.

As an initial step, Prabowo said the government has built 66 hospitals in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost regions. Of these 66 hospitals, 22 are already operational.

“We have brought cardiac examination equipment, CT scans, mammography, ultrasound and modern services to areas that previously had to refer patients to very distant places,” he said.

The President also stated that the government will revitalise 440 regional general hospitals so that every regency and city has a good hospital. These RSUDs will be strengthened to handle several diseases with the highest mortality rates, such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, as well as maternal and child health services.

“A mother must no longer lose her life because the hospital is too far away. A father must no longer sell all his possessions because he has to seek treatment in a big city,” he said.

In addition, President Prabowo also plans to establish a clinic at every Merah Putih Cooperative outlet. The presence of these clinics is expected to make it easier for the public to access health services without being hindered by distance.

“Our plan is also that at every Merah Putih cooperative outlet there will be a clinic where people can receive health services remotely,” he explained.
