43 Wild Boar Hunters Questioned After Boy Killed by Hunting Dogs in Bogor

A nine-year-old boy has died after being attacked by wild boar hunting dogs in Jasinga, Bogor, West Java. Approximately 43 hunters present at the scene have been questioned by the Jasinga Sector Police.

“We have secured around 43 individuals, who are indeed wild boar hunters,” stated Jasinga Police Chief, AKP Agus Hidayat, on Monday (8/6/2026). He explained that the hunters use dogs to chase the wild boars. The case has now been transferred to the Bogor Regency Police for further investigation.

According to local residents, wild boar hunting using dogs is a common practice in the area, with hunters often arriving from outside the Jasinga region. Agus noted that while releasing dogs for hunting is a regular occurrence, the hunters failed to check the terrain, which unfortunately contained a child who was fishing at the time.

The victim was found with injuries to his head and neck in a grassy area in Jasinga. He is believed to have died on Sunday (7/6) afternoon while fishing with a friend.

Previously, Bogor Regency Police had interrogated 57 individuals and seized 21 vehicles used to transport the hunting dogs. Bogor Police Chief, AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto, has personally overseen the handling of the case, ensuring transparency. He urged the public, particularly residents of Jasinga, to remain calm and avoid spreading speculation on social media, as the investigation is being conducted through proper legal and medical procedures.

“All evidence, including vehicles, the interrogation of 57 individuals, and laboratory tests on hundreds of animals, will serve as a strong foundation for investigators to resolve this case professionally and transparently. We ask the community to trust the process and help maintain regional stability,” added Wikha.
