Iran’s Health Ministry has reported an increasingly concerning humanitarian impact from the combined military operations conducted by the United States and Israel. Since the aggression began on 28 February, hundreds of civilians, including women and children, have been reported killed.

According to an official statement from Iran’s Health Ministry released through the Fars News Agency on Sunday, 15 March, at least 223 women and 202 children have been killed in the series of attacks. The ministry detailed that among the deceased were three pregnant women and 12 children under five years of age. In addition to fatalities, 41 children have been wounded by airstrikes and missile attacks across various regions.

Beyond the loss of life, the attacks have also crippled public facilities. The statement emphasised that Iran’s medical infrastructure has sustained significant damage. “US-Israeli strikes have caused severe damage to healthcare infrastructure, with at least 153 health centres across the country damaged,” the ministry statement said.

Tensions in the Middle East reached a critical point on 28 February when United States and Israeli military forces launched a combined operation against Iran. The initial strikes killed approximately 1,200 people, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Iran has launched waves of drone and missile attacks targeting Israeli territory, Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states hosting US military bases and assets.
