42 percent of Eid returnees yet to enter Jakarta, Polri continues to focus on security
Semarang (ANTARA) - Polri continues to focus on securing traffic flow during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period through intensified routine activities (KRYD), following the fact that 42 percent of returnees have not yet entered Jakarta. “From our projections, 42 percent have not yet entered Jakarta. We are still managing this. Of course, Polri Headquarters’ Operation Ketupat has concluded, but routine police activities have been intensified,” said Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho in Semarang, Central Java, in the early hours of Thursday. He stated that police officers are still in the field to secure local returnees in agglomeration areas. “Currently, there is still agglomeration activity in hometowns, which may lead to a second peak return on 29 March. We are prepared for this,” he said. Agus noted that during Operation Ketupat, the vehicle volume at the highest peak of the homecoming flow reached a historical high of 270,315 vehicles. Compared to 2025, there was an increase of 4.62 percent, amounting to 258,512 vehicles. Despite the congestion, he said traffic flow was controlled thanks to traffic engineering measures, one of which is the national one-way system. Meanwhile, in terms of public security and order (harkamtibmas), there were no prominent incidents. He mentioned that the observance of National Major Religious Days (HBKN), from Chinese New Year, Nyepi, to Eid al-Fitr, proceeded conducive.
