42 Companies Receive “Gold” and “Platinum” Awards from WSO Indonesia
Jakarta – A total of 42 companies from various industrial sectors received awards from the World Safety Organization (WSO) Indonesia. They were recognised for effectively implementing a safety culture within their respective companies.
The awards were presented at the WSO Indonesia Safety Culture Award (WISCA) event held at Bidakara, Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026).
Unlike previous editions, no companies received the Calculative (Silver) level award this year. This indicates that efforts by the industrial sector to enhance safety culture maturity are increasingly advancing.
“This year’s awards were given to 42 companies that have achieved Gold and Platinum levels of safety culture maturity. The Gold award was given to 32 companies, while Platinum to 10 companies,” said Soehatman Ramli, Chairman of WSO Indonesia.
He explained that safety culture maturity or occupational health and safety (K3) refers to the level of maturity of an organisation in integrating K3 principles into all aspects of operations and company culture. It consists of five levels: Pathological (1), Reactive (2), Calculative (3), Proactive (4), and Generative (5).
“The higher the level of safety culture maturity achieved, the better the implementation of K3 in the company. Cases of work accidents and work-related illnesses also become very low,” said Soehatman.
According to Soehatman, there has been a significant increase in the Platinum category. “This year, 10 companies received the Platinum award. Last year there were 9, and the year before that only 7. This proves that these companies continue to improve their safety culture maturity or K3 in their respective companies,” he said.
A positive outcome of the WISCA event, added Soehatman, is that work accident cases and work-related illnesses in these companies have become very low.
High Work Accidents
He urged companies in Indonesia to continue implementing K3 aspects effectively and consistently. This is because it relates to worker safety.
Citing data from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, work accident cases in Indonesia tend to increase year on year.
In 2022, for example, there were 297,725 cases, which rose to 370,747 cases in 2023. Then, it surged to 462,241 incidents in 2024.
The rapid increase also occurred in the number of workers dying from work accidents. In 2022, out of 297,725 work accident cases, 103,349 workers died.
This figure increased in 2023. Out of 370,747 work accident cases, 152,246 workers died from work accidents.
And in 2024, out of 462,241 cases, 178,381 workers died from work accidents.
WISCA
WISCA is an annual event organised by WSO Indonesia. Since it was first held in 2020, more than 120 companies in Indonesia have successfully implemented a good safety culture.
“WISCA is not a competition. Rather, it is a form of appreciation for companies that have implemented K3 aspects well and made K3 a culture in the company. Through WISCA, WSO Indonesia seeks to encourage the industrial sector in Indonesia to continue improving their K3 culture maturity in their respective companies,” concluded Soehatman Ramli, Chairman of WSO Indonesia.
