413 Joint Personnel on Standby to Secure Demonstrations in Central Jakarta
A total of 413 joint police personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and sector police stations have been placed on standby to secure two demonstrations in the Central Jakarta area today, Tuesday (7/7). Central Jakarta Metro Police Head of Public Relations, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration is being organised by the Jaringan Aktivis Peduli Rakyat (Network of Activists Concerned for the People) and several other elements in the Gambir area. “Security for the demonstration by the Jaringan Aktivis Peduli Rakyat and several elements is scheduled for 1:00 PM Western Indonesia Time,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Tuesday. The second demonstration will be held by student elements belonging to the Aliansi Mahasiswa Hukum Peduli Tanah Air (Alliance of Law Students Concerned for the Homeland) in the Sawah Besar area of Central Jakarta. “The action is by members of the Aliansi Mahasiswa Hukum Peduli Tanah Air at the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Sawah Besar, at 1:00 PM Western Indonesia Time,” Erlyn stated. Traffic diversions at the demonstration locations will be implemented situationally, depending on the number of participants on the ground. The public has been urged to avoid the areas around the demonstration sites to anticipate traffic congestion.
