41 fugitives still at large

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: The Lampung police have so far managed to catch only three out of 44 escaped inmates back to a penitentiary in the province's remote town of Sukadana, some 250 kilometers east of the provincial capital.

Theft suspect Adhari, 36, was the latest to return to jail after he surrendered to the police on Sunday. Previously the police captured Komang Pani Yasana, 20, and Ujang, 19, both are Lampung locals, a day after the jailbreak on Wednesday last week.

Adhari told the police he was forced to join the jailbreak by his cellmates.

The authorities remained tight-lipped over the constraints they were facing in locating the remaining 41 fugitives. -- JP
