41,000 Victims in Fraudulent Investment by BLN Cooperative, Rp4.6 Trillion Circulated

Central Java’s Directorate of Special Crimes (Reskrimsus) of the Regional Police (Polda) said the fraudulent Bahana Lintas Nusantara (BLN) cooperative operated from 2018 to 2025, with 17 BLN branches recorded in Central Java. ‘In the Central Java region there are 17 branches of Bahana Lintas Nusantara cooperative,’ said Kombes Djoko Julianto at a press conference at the Dit Reskrimsus headquarters in Banyumanik, Semarang, as reported by detikJateng on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

Djoko explained that authorities are currently handling the three largest branches in Central Java: Salatiga, Boyolali, and the Solo Raya region. The victims total tens of thousands. ‘Salatiga branch: the public who deposited funds numbered 11,999; Boyolali branch: 1,200; Solo Raya branch: 2,435,’ he said.

The total number of victims reached 41,000, with victims also in other regions and even outside the island. ‘Overall victims amount to 41,000 people scattered across various regions in Indonesia. There are other victims outside Central Java, including Bali, East Java, the Special Region of DI Yogyakarta (DIY), Lampung, West Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and others,’ he stated.

Because it is still being audited by an independent public accounting firm, Djoko could not yet detail the total losses experienced by the tens of thousands of victims. ‘Losses from these illegal activities are still being calculated by the independent public accounting firm’s audit,’ he noted.

However, over seven years of operation, the cooperative recorded 160,000 transactions. Djoko revealed there was a money circulation of up to Rp4.6 trillion. ‘There have been about 160,000 transactions from 2018 to 2025, with a total money circulation of Rp4.6 trillion,’ he said.

Furthermore, Djoko disclosed that while collecting funds from the public, the BLN Cooperative did not possess a savings and loan business licence or a fund-raising licence. ‘In carrying out activities involving public deposits, the Bahana Lintas Nusantara cooperative did not have a savings and loans business licence according to NIB data 1303230035928, and also did not have a fund-raising licence from the Financial Services Authority (OJK),’ he explained.
