Jakarta—The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Post-Disaster Sumatra has announced that 406 of 508 affected mud-contaminated locations across three provinces—Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra—have been fully cleaned.

“As of today, from 508 locations targeted for mud clearance across these three provinces, 406 locations have been successfully cleared. This means they are completely clean at 100 per cent, whilst 102 others remain under remediation,” stated Amran, spokesperson for the Satgas PRR for Post-Disaster Sumatra, at the Ministry of Home Affairs building in Central Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).

He confirmed that locations still undergoing remediation are small areas serving as access points to various roads.

Amran stated that mud clearance represents part of the post-disaster rehabilitation phase aimed at restoring public access. “And ensuring that public facilities can return to normal functioning,” he said.

Amran further detailed the distribution of cleared locations across the three provinces.

In Aceh, 366 of 455 targeted locations have been cleared, with 89 others still under remediation.

For West Sumatra province, all 29 targeted locations have been cleared.

In North Sumatra province, 11 of 24 affected targeted locations have been cleared, with 13 others still under remediation.

“So the data we have compiled regarding mud clearance, whether conducted by the Public Works Ministry or various other institutions, the 100 per cent cleansed areas include, for example, East Aceh, several schools that are 100 per cent clean both inside and surrounding the locations,” Amran said.
