About 400 employees of state-owned enterprises took part in three months of military training at the TNI’s Doctrine, Education and Training Command (Kodiklat) in South Tangerang on Wednesday. The participants were trained by the TNI to boost discipline, nationalism and love of country. “Educating character, nationalism, a sense of nationhood, togetherness, discipline and fighting spirit. This is entrusted to Kodiklat TNI to carry out this activity,” said Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto at a press conference at the TNI Kodiklat headquarters in South Tangerang on Wednesday. At Kodiklat TNI, he said, they would learn several military basics, one of which is marching drill. He noted that the drill could enhance discipline and the employees’ ability to be led and to lead. In addition, he said the drill would help foster teamwork. However, Donny emphasised that the activity is not intended to militarise the work environment of state-owned enterprises.
