400 Residents in Cianjur Defrauded in Eid Package Savings Scheme, Losses Reach Rp 500 Million
A total of 400 residents in Cianjur, West Java, have been defrauded in an Eid package savings scheme. Police have designated DS (43), the scheme’s boss, as a suspect.
“DS has been named as a suspect and is being held at the Cianjur Police Resort headquarters,” stated Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Alexander Yurikho, as quoted by detikJabar on Saturday (21/3/2026).
From preliminary data, the losses suffered by around 400 victims are estimated to exceed Rp 500 million. This figure could increase as a complaints post is opened.
The perpetrator DS is charged under Article 492 regarding fraud and/or Article 486 regarding embezzlement in Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at Cianjur Police Resort, AKP Fajri Amelia Putra, added that the collectors or scheme employees will not be named as suspects.
Residents had confronted DS at his home on Wednesday (18/3), demanding clarity on the promised grocery packages in the savings scheme. Residents expressed frustration because, as Eid approached, the packages promised by DS had not been received.
