Semarang (ANTARA) - A total of 400 members of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) from 32 regencies and cities in Central Java have been officially inaugurated as paralegals, representing a tangible manifestation of the organisation’s presence at the grassroots level.

“These paralegals showcase another facet of Muslimat NU’s strength,” said Chair of the Central Executive Board of Muslimat NU, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, during the inauguration of the Muslimat NU Paralegals for the Central Java Region in Semarang on Saturday.

According to her, the tangible presence of Muslimat at the grassroots through paralegals plays a role not only in the legal field but also in social matters.

“Paralegals’ role is not merely about law, but also about social humanitarianism, as it is carried out with empathy and local wisdom,” said the Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA).

Going forward, she continued, Muslimat NU will continue to face complex challenges with tradition and independence.

“Muslimat NU becomes a shelter for civilisation amid conflicts, acting as a pioneer of change that brings about benefits,” she said.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the Advisory Board of Muslimat NU, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, stated that the inaugurated paralegals must be prepared to advance to becoming peace judges.

“Muslimat has a structure down to the branch level, so it is important to become problem solvers,” she said.

Thus, she added, Muslimat NU has a role as a shelter and cooler for civilisation, as well as a peace mediator.
