DENPASAR, Bali: Some 400 elderly Japanese tourists on board the
MS Asuka cruise ship are expected to arrive at the Padangbai port
on the Indonesian island resort of Bali on Monday, a local
tourist agency said on Saturday.
Wita Dahlan of Fortune Public Relations said that tourism and
culture minister I Gde Ardika and Bali Governor I Dewa Beratha
will be on hand to welcome the tourists.
The visit of the elderly Japanese tourists in Bali is part of
the "Asia Grand Cruise" voyage, which sailed off from Yokohama
and is set to make stops in Vietnam, Singapore, Bali and the
Australian city of Darwin.
Bali is popular among the Japanese, who top the annual list of
foreign tourists who come to the island.
Data from the immigration office at the Ngurah Rai
International Airport show that some 400,000 Japanese spent their
holidays in Bali last year.
In January alone, Bali attracted 60,838 foreign tourists, some
10,290 of them were Japanese. --Antara
