40 Islamic Organisations Report Ade Armando, Abu Janda, and Grace Natalie to Police over JK
At least 40 Islamic organisations affiliated with the Alliance for Religious Harmony have officially reported academic and PSI cadre Ade Armando, PSI Council Secretary Grace Natalie, and content creator Permadi Arya, known as Abu Janda, to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri).
The representative from LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, stated that the report concerns the polemical narratives included in each individual’s social media posts regarding a clipped video from a lecture by the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), at UGM Mosque while explaining conflicts in Poso and Ambon.
The report was received and registered under number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri, dated 4 May 2026.
“LBH Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia, LBH Syarikat Islam, along with LBH Muhammadiyah, Hidayatullah, AFKN, and other organisations, have reported three figures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,” said Gurun Arisastra to reporters at Bareskrim Polri in South Jakarta on Monday (4/5).
He detailed that the basis of the report relates to Ade Armando’s post about a video clip from JK’s lecture on Cokro TV on 9 April 2026.
Similar posts, he said, were uploaded by Permadi Arya on his social media on 12 April 2026, followed by Grace Natalie on her social media on 13 April 2026.
“There are narratives being constructed where an incomplete video is presented to the public, namely a clip, and narratives are built that lead to perspectives or conclusions that are not complete in society,” he explained.
As of this writing, CNNIndonesia.com has not received an official statement from the reported individuals or their representatives regarding their reporting to Bareskrim Polri.
Previously, Ade Armando and Permadi had also been reported to Metro Jaya Regional Police regarding a similar case. The report was filed by the Maluku Advocacy Profession Alliance (APAM) and registered under number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.
“We visited Metro Jaya Regional Police to file a police report on alleged incitement and provocation crimes suspected to have been committed by Mr Ade Armando and Permadi Arya through social media,” said APAM representative and reporter Paman Nurlette to reporters on Monday (20/4).
Ade and Permadi are related to alleged violations of Article 48 in conjunction with Article 32 of the ITE Law or Article 243 of the Criminal Code.
In the report, the reporter also included several pieces of evidence, including the full video of JK’s lecture, the clipped video uploaded by Ade on the Cokro TV YouTube channel, and the clipped video uploaded by Permadi on his Facebook account.
Furthermore, Nurlette emphasised that the report submitted by his side does not represent Jusuf Kalla, but is an initiative of APAM.
In response to the report at Metro Jaya Regional Police, Ade Armando at that time claimed that he did not edit or clip JK’s lecture video, but only provided commentary. Nevertheless, Ade stated that he would follow the legal process regarding the report of alleged incitement and provocation.
“I don’t understand the substance of their report. Why am I accused of clipping Mr JK’s lecture, causing a commotion? I didn’t clip or edit and then disseminate it. What I did was only comment on the JK lecture clip that was circulating online,” said Ade when confirmed on Monday (20/4) night.
Meanwhile, Permadi did not comment much on the report. However, he suspected that the report was made based on hatred.
“Clearly, that report is based on hatred and political vendetta,” he said.
This polemic actually began when JK was reported by several parties, including the DPP of the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI), to the police for allegations of religious blasphemy in a clipped video from his lecture at UGM Mosque during Ramadan or March 2026. The GAMKI General Chairman who brought the report to the police, Sahat Martin Philip Sinurat, is also a PSI cadre serving as Acting Chairman of PSI’s North Sumatra Regional Board and Head of PSI’s Politics Division at that time.
However, PSI’s DPP emphasised that it has no involvement with its cadre who questioned and reported JK to the police.
PSI’s Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali acknowledged Sahat’s position in his party, but he emphasised that the individual acted in the name of GAMKI. He stressed that PSI did not interfere in the reporting.
“PSI has no business with reports against Mr Jusuf Kalla,” said Ahmad Ali after meeting the 7th President, Joko Widodo, at his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Thursday (16/4).
Meanwhile, JK and UGM Mosque have also spoken out on the case. The full recording of JK’s lecture is available on the UGM Mosque YouTube channel. JK’s lecture was actually titled ‘Indonesia’s Diplomacy Strategy in Mitigating Potential Escalation of Multipolar Regional War’ at UGM Campus Mosque on 5 March 2026.
JK was present as one of the speakers at the ‘Ramadan Public Lecture’. This 43-minute lecture moment by JK was also broadcast via the official YouTube channel of UGM Campus Mosque.
In response to the buzz about JK’s lecture, the admin of the UGM Campus Mosque YouTube channel conveyed its message through a pinned comment starting Monday (12/4).
“Dear congregation, we kindly ask you to watch the video in full, not just the circulating clips. Often, incomplete excerpts can cause misunderstandings because the context of the discussion is not properly conveyed,” wrote the admin in the comments column.
“Let us act fairly in assessing something, by viewing it comprehensively before drawing conclusions or disseminating it further. If further clarification is needed, please contact the relevant parties directly. Thank you for your attention and prudence,” it concluded.
