40 Dead After Israeli Missiles Strike Iranian School Building

An elementary girls’ school building in Minab city, Hormozgan Province, Iran was reported struck by missiles launched by Israel. The incident resulted in 40 deaths.

“The death toll from Minab girls’ elementary school has reached 40 people,” according to a statement by Iranian state television, as reported by detikNews citing AFP on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

Rescue personnel continued evacuation operations at the site. The casualty count is expected to increase as evacuation efforts continue.

According to Anadolu Agency, 45 people were injured in the attack. The school was struck by Israeli forces in the early morning local time.

The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran. The strikes were claimed to eliminate threats posed by the Iranian regime.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump stated that the attack was carried out whilst signalling support for efforts to change the government in Tehran.

Iran stated that it would retaliate against the attacks by both countries. Iran described the assault as a violation of sovereignty.
