40,000 Qur'ans Distributed in South Sumatra, Residents Also Trained in Producing Liquid Fertiliser
AI-Qur’an Wakaf Agency (BWA) has distributed 40,000 Qur’ans as charitable waqf copies to communities in South Sumatra Province. The distribution forms part of an ongoing effort to broaden access to suitable Qur’ans and strengthen the propagation of Islam in the region.
In a written statement on Thursday, 21 May 2026, BWA said the Qur’ans were distributed to a range of educational and religious institutions, including schools, pesantren, TPA/TPQ centers, and mosques. The distribution coverage spanned all districts and cities in South Sumatra, including Palembang City, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (OKI), Prabumulih City, Pali Regency, Lubuk Linggau City, Musi Rawas Regency, Muratara Regency, LAHAT Regency, Pagar Alam City, and surrounding areas.
The initiative was implemented with the support and collaboration of local Muslim communities and regional government. Specifically in Pagar Alam, on 18 May 2026, during the Qur’an distribution, BWA worked with the City Government through the Acting Head of the Population Control, Family Planning, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office (DPKBP3A), Evvy Yuningsih.
BWA organised an organic liquid fertiliser (POC) training under the title “Empowerment of Family Economies through Andalan Kelompok UPPKA (AKU) Binaan Badan Wakaf Alquran (BWA).”
The training event proceeded smoothly. Participants were enthusiastic and eager to join from morning to afternoon. Cholmin Heriyadi, Assistant II to the City Regional Secretary of Pagar Alam, expressed gratitude to BWA and the participants.
