4-year sentence sought for drug user

JAKARTA: West Jakarta prosecutors asked the district court on Monday to sentence Muhammad Juhri, 36, to four years in prison for the possession of two ecstasy pills.

Prosecutors also demanded the suspect be fined Rp 75 million (US$8,152).

Juhri asked the panel of judges, presided over by Nasaruddin Tappo, for leniency, saying he was the sole financial supporter for his wife and two children.

The judges adjourned the trial until Oct. 4, at which time they will deliver their verdict. -- Antara
