4 TNI Soldiers Involved in Acid Attack: TB Hasanuddin Demands Revelation of Mastermind
Member of Commission I of the DPR from the PDI-P faction, retired Major General TB Hasanuddin, has called for the swift revelation and legal prosecution of the masterminds behind the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. TB Hasanuddin pressed the authorities not to focus solely on capturing the field perpetrators, who are known to be soldiers from the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS). “Do not stop at the field perpetrators; the masterminds must be uncovered and prosecuted,” TB Hasanuddin stated to Kompas.com on Wednesday (18/3/2026). TB Hasanuddin further stressed that this case must not end with the field actors alone. “We refer to the Supreme Commander, President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, that the perpetrators of the attack on Andrie must be arrested and processed according to applicable law. The motives behind this action must also be uncovered, including who gave the orders. This case must be investigated thoroughly,” he said. Moreover, TB Hasanuddin believes that the action was not spontaneous by the field perpetrators but is suspected to have been ordered by certain parties. “I am convinced this was not their own initiative. It must be traced whether there were orders from certain parties. Do not let the soldiers on the ground become the ones sacrificed, while the intellectual actors remain untouched by the law,” TB Hasanuddin explained. TNI Headquarters has officially detained four members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) TNI in connection with the acid attack on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus. The four soldiers are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES. “So now, these four suspected individuals have been secured at the TNI Military Police Corps for further investigation leading to prosecution,” stated the Head of the TNI Military Police Corps, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference on Wednesday (18/3/2026). “In the meantime, we are applying Article 467 of the Criminal Code under Law No. 1 of 2023,” Yusri added. Andrie Yunus was doused with acid by unidentified individuals in central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
