The public will soon be able to enjoy the LRT transport mode on the Velodrome-Manggarai route. Construction of the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT is now 100 per cent complete. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the readiness of the Jakarta LRT in the Manggarai area, South Jakarta, on Monday (24/8/2026). The following are a number of facts related to the operation of the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT:

  1. To be inaugurated by the President

The inauguration of the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT will be carried out by President Prabowo Subianto. The DKI Jakarta provincial government has proposed that the inauguration be held on 26 August 2026. However, the exact timing still depends on the President’s agenda. Pramono said the President is currently handling a number of national issues, including forest fire disasters and an earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). ‘Regarding the inauguration, we are proposing 26 August. The timing will of course follow the schedule of President Prabowo Subianto,’ he said.

  1. Operating hours 05.00-24.00 WIB

After the inauguration, the LRT will immediately operate fully for the public. LRT operating hours will run from 05.00 to 24.00 WIB. ‘Once it is inaugurated by the President, it will operate fully. The schedule is the same as the KRL schedule, from 05.00 in the morning until 24.00 WIB,’ said Pramono. Pramono estimates that the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route can carry around 60,000 to 80,000 passengers in the initial phase. According to him, the number of passengers will increase significantly because the LRT’s reach is wider and connected to other public transport modes. ‘We predict that once it is connected from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai, there will be approximately 60,000 to 80,000 users in the early stages,’ he explained.

  1. Temporary fare of Rp5,000

The DKI Jakarta provincial government is still applying the same flat fare as the Kelapa Gading-Velodrome Phase 1 LRT. The Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT fare is currently still set at Rp5,000. ‘So for the time being, until October, the fare will still use the current flat fare, which is Rp5,000 per journey,’ said Pramono. He explained that the DKI Jakarta provincial government is still reviewing the fare scheme for the Jakarta LRT after the transition period ends. A decision on the new fare is targeted to be set by October. ‘Hopefully by October a decision can be made on what fare will be applied for the Jakarta LRT as a whole, which we will arrange together,’ he said. Pramono also said the DKI Jakarta provincial government is preparing a special fare scheme. During the trial period, 15 groups of people were exempted from travel fees, or travelled free of charge.

  1. Pedestrian access to be completed in September

Pedestrian access connecting Manggarai LRT Station with Manggarai KRL Station is targeted for completion in September 2026. The access is being processed by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) together with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). ‘The connection that we will link with Manggarai is currently being processed because there is KAI land whose legal basis we must ensure so there are no problems,’ said Jakpro President Director Iwan Takwin while accompanying DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to inspect the readiness of the Velodrome-Manggarai phase of the Jakarta LRT on Monday (24/8/2026). He said intermodal integration in the Manggarai area is already underway. The LRT is already connected to Transjakarta services, which also serve the Manggarai Station area. ‘Actually, the connection already exists; we are already connected with Transjakarta, and Transjakarta to Manggarai Station is also already connected. So, the integration of these three modes is actually already established now,’ he said. However, for direct access allowing passengers to walk from Manggarai KRL Station to the LRT Station, the process is still being carried out with KAI. ‘The direct connection from Manggarai to here is currently being processed together with KAI,’ he explained. When asked when the access can be used, the Jakpro President Director targeted the work to be completed in September. ‘In September it will be finished and can be operated,’ he continued.
