4 Million People in Jakarta Not Going Home for Eid, Lebaran Holiday Promotions in Jakarta
The government predicts that around 4 million Jakarta residents will not go home for Eid this year. “That’s correct, data shows there are around more than 4 million people in Jakarta who will not mudik, so to speak, they will stay in Jakarta,” said Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini. This was stated during an online press conference by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday (17/3/2026). According to Made, this moment can be used as an opportunity to attract more tourists to Jakarta, in line with the Mudik to Jakarta programme presented by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Through the Mudik to Jakarta programme, Jakarta residents will receive special promotions and discounts for shopping, hotels, and tourism during a certain period. “For those who do not mudik, we have emphasised that because the theme for Jakarta is ‘Mudik to Jakarta’, we will treat them specially,” said DKI Governor Pramono Anung, as quoted by Antara on Saturday (21/3/2026).
