UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged Israel to immediately halt its attacks in Lebanon following the death of an Indonesian soldier serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Corporal Rico Pramudia (31), from injuries sustained in the incident.

In a statement on social media platform X on Saturday (25 April 2026), Guterres expressed sadness over the passing of the Indonesian peacekeeper. He noted that the victim died from wounds received after an attack in March.

“I am saddened to learn that another Indonesian peacekeeper with UNIFIL has died from his injuries following an incident in March, when an artillery shell fired from an Israeli Defense Forces tank hit a UNIFIL position in southern Lebanon, according to UNIFIL’s initial findings,” Guterres stated.

Guterres also extended his deepest condolences to the victim’s family. He wished for a speedy recovery to other peacekeepers injured in the incident.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeepers, and I wish a swift and full recovery to the others who were injured,” he said.

He noted that six UNIFIL personnel in Lebanon have now been killed. Guterres reiterated his call for the attacks to be stopped immediately.

“Six peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL have now been killed and several others seriously injured following recent incidents amid the hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defense Forces,” he said.

“These attacks must stop,” he added.
