4 Facts So Far Regarding KPK Sting Operation Involving Muara Enim Regent
Muara Enim Regent Edison has been caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Edison is suspected of receiving bribes from private parties. The KPK operation has been underway since Sunday night (7/6). KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the sting operation involving Edison. “It is true,” he stated when asked for confirmation on Monday (8/6/2026).

- KPK Detains 10 Individuals
The KPK revealed that ten people were detained during this operation. The KPK stated that these ten individuals include Edison. “During this closed investigation, the team secured ten people in the Jakarta and South Sumatra regions,” said KPK Spokesperson BKS Budi Prasetyo to reporters. The group detained consists of five individuals from the Muara Enim Regency Government and five from the private sector. However, he has not yet disclosed the identities of those detained. “Five people from the Muara Enim Regency Government elements, including the Regent. Then five others from the private sector,” he said. The detained parties currently hold the status of witnesses under investigation. The KPK has 24 hours to announce the official status of those detained.
- Alleged Receipt of Funds from Private Sector
The KPK revealed that Edison is suspected of receiving bribes from private parties. This is related to procurement processes within the Muara Enim Regency Government. “Regarding the alleged receipt by state officials from private parties,” said Budi. “Regarding procurements within the scope of the Muara Enim Regency Government,” he added.
- Seizure of Hundreds of Millions in Cash
The KPK has seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in connection with the sting operation. However, the KPK has not yet specified the exact amount. “As for the evidence, so far it is reported that there is cash worth hundreds of millions of rupiah,” said Budi.
- Transported to KPK Today
The KPK is still conducting examinations of Edison. The interrogation is currently being carried out at the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel). “As for the Regent, he is one of the parties detained in the South Sumatra region. Currently, examinations are being conducted at Polda Sumsel,” said Budi. There are plans to transport Edison to Jakarta today. Budi has not yet confirmed when Edison will arrive at the KPK headquarters. “The plan is for today. What is certain is that as of tonight, there is no plan yet to bring the Regent to the KPK Merah Putih Building. We will provide updates later, as the exposure is scheduled for tonight,” he said. Several other parties are also undergoing intensive examination at Polda Sumsel, while some have already been brought to the KPK. “Currently, several individuals are undergoing intensive examination during the investigation stage at Polda Sumsel. Some of them have already been secured at the K4 facility. Details of the case will be announced later,” he concluded.
