4 Evaluation Points Behind Prabowo's Decision to Remove Dadan Hindayana as Head of BGN
President Prabowo Subianto has officially removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This decision follows an in-depth monitoring and evaluation process conducted over 1.5 years regarding the implementation of the government’s priority programmes.
The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, revealed that the leadership change at the BGN was based on several crucial findings in the field. “There were many notes that subsequently became the basis for the President’s consideration to carry out this replacement,” Prasetyo stated at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.
The following evaluation points were the primary reasons for the removal of Dadan Hindayana and his subordinates:
Discipline in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): As an agency managing the strategic Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, compliance with operational procedures is non-negotiable.
Institutional Governance: The evaluation highlighted indiscipline in the BGN’s internal management, which was deemed to have hindered the organisation’s effectiveness in achieving government-set targets.
Food Quality: The President expressed serious concern regarding the quality of food distributed to the public. Evaluations showed failures in maintaining the strict food quality standards that the National Nutrition Agency is required to uphold.
Stakeholder Feedback: The decision was not based solely on internal data but also included input from various parties. Over the past 1.5 years, the President has listened to complaints and aspirations from relevant ministries, the general public, and the beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meal programme.
Regarding the new structure of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana was removed alongside two deputies, Police Brigadier General Sony Sonjaya and Retired Major General Lodewyk Pusung. With the new leadership under Nanik S. Deyang, the government hopes that these evaluative findings will be addressed promptly to ensure the smooth running of this national programme.
