Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has disclosed that the latest survey has identified 4,870 pothole points across provincial roads in Central Java, all of which are now the focus of urgent repair works. He has set a target for all roads to be in smooth condition before the Lebaran homecoming traffic begins in the third week of March 2026.

Luthfi made the announcement after inaugurating the completed preservation of the Randudongkal–Moga Road and the Pemalang–Bantarbolang Road on Wednesday (18 February 2026). The Randudongkal–Moga road project spans 4.18 kilometres with a contract value of Rp26.32 billion, whilst the Pemalang–Bantarbolang road project covers 5.731 kilometres at a cost of Rp24.5 billion.

The Governor expressed hope that the inauguration of these two road preservation packages would provide direct benefits to the community, noting that both routes are strategic corridors for public mobility and the distribution of goods.

According to provincial government data, the total length of provincial roads in Central Java reaches approximately 2,362 kilometres. Luthfi stated that the target is for all potholes to be sealed and roads to be in solid condition ahead of the homecoming and return traffic flows, as part of the government’s commitment to road user safety.

Luthfi emphasised that road infrastructure improvement is vital for supporting economic mobility in the region. Road connectivity, he said, facilitates the distribution of goods and services and encourages the growth of new economic centres. The quality of road infrastructure is crucial not only for traffic safety but also for accommodating the ever-increasing volume of homecoming and return travel, as well as driving the movement of people and goods to power the regional economy.
