Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) has announced that the civil servant candidate (CPNS) formation requirement for 2026 totals 4,770 through the official schools pathway.

The announcement of the student selection opening for official schools is planned to take place in August 2026.

Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini advised young Indonesians who aspire to enter official schools to prepare themselves as well as possible.

“Official school selection is not only about the opportunity to become a state civil apparatus (ASN), but also about preparing oneself to become a competent, upright, and disciplined individual in service to the community,” said Rini in Jakarta, as quoted on Friday (14/8/2026).

Once announced, registration will be carried out through the State Civil Apparatus Candidate Selection System (SSCASN) portal owned by the National Civil Service Agency (BKN). Registration can be accessed at sscasn.bkn.go.id.

This year, nine institutions are opening official school formations under their auspices. These institutions are the Ministry of Home Affairs; the Ministry of Transportation (22 official schools); the Ministry of Finance; the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN); Statistics Indonesia (BPS); the Ministry of Law; the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections; the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency; and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

The total national formation for official schools this year is 4,770, an increase from the 2025 official school formation of 3,257.

Official school selection continues to use the Computer Assisted Test (CAT). According to Rini, CAT has been proven to eliminate fraudulent practices in CASN selection such as ‘insider placements’, proxy test-takers, and so forth.

Rini reminded participants to take the selection seriously. The final result is determined by each individual’s own ability. “Do not easily trust parties who promise graduation. There is no shortcut to becoming part of a bureaucracy with integrity,” said Rini.

To parents, Rini advised them to support their children who wish to register for official schools. Motivation from home will certainly help them compete healthily.

The target for the Basic Competency Selection (SKD) is September 2026. Like other CASN tests, the official school SKD consists of three main materials: the National Insight Test (TWK), the General Intelligence Test (TIU), and the Personal Characteristics Test (TKP).

After the SKD, official school applicants will take further selection stages. However, the detailed schedule for this selection is managed by each official school.

Rini urged participants to prepare their own competencies, maintain integrity, and believe in their own abilities. “Hopefully the 2026 Official School selection can produce a young generation that is excellent, of strong character, and prioritises the interests of the community,” Rini stressed.

The details of the 2026 Official School formation numbers are as follows:
