4.6 Million Passengers Expected to Fly During Lebaran 2026 Holiday, Travellers Urged to Arrive Earlier
Approximately 4.6 million people are estimated to travel by air during the Lebaran 2026 holiday period. Of this figure, 3.6 million are domestic air passengers, whilst the remainder are international air passengers.
The Director of Air Transport at the Ministry of Transportation, Agustinus Budi H, stated that the forecast number of holiday travellers using aircraft has risen by two per cent compared to the same period last year.
The passenger capacity for domestic flights opened by airlines has reached 4.9 million seats.
“Our hope, of course, is that the percentage of tickets sold will continue to increase,” said Agustinus during an online press conference held jointly by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
However, based on aircraft ticket sales data to date, the peak of Lebaran 2026 holiday travel was recorded on Saturday, 16 March 2026. On that day, 218,168 tickets were sold, representing 74.9 per cent of capacity.
The forecast for the return journey during Lebaran 2026 has also changed based on ticket sales data, shifting to 24 March 2026, with 156,599 seats sold, equivalent to 54.8 per cent capacity.
