4,264 Joint Personnel on Standby to Secure Protests at Five Locations in Central Jakarta

A total of 4,263 joint personnel have been placed on standby to secure demonstrations at five locations in the Central Jakarta area. “There are 4,263 joint personnel (from the Regional Police, Resort Police, and Sector Police) providing services for the demonstration in the Central Jakarta area,” said Central Jakarta Resort Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, on Friday. He stated that thousands of joint personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and subordinate Sector Police are on standby to oversee the demonstrations to ensure they proceed safely and orderly. The masses are scheduled to gather at five points: the South Silang Monas area, the DPR/MPR building, the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, the Tugu Tani monument, and the Ministry of Finance. According to the schedule, the first action will be held by the National Board of Free Indonesian Farmers in the South Monas Bowl area, Gambir, starting at 09:00 Western Indonesia Time. Subsequently, masses from the Trisakti University Student Presidency are scheduled to hold a demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR Building starting at 10:00 Western Indonesia Time. Meanwhile, the Nusantara Student and Youth Coalition is scheduled to hold demonstrations at two locations, namely Tugu Tani and the Ministry of Finance, starting simultaneously at 13:00 Western Indonesia Time. Erlyn emphasised that the security measures for these actions are being carried out with a humanist approach. “We are here to serve our brothers and sisters who wish to voice their aspirations,” said Erlyn. He also reminded action participants to convey their demands in an orderly manner. Furthermore, speeches are requested not to incite provocation, let alone lead to anarchic acts. “Express your opinions peacefully, do not be anarchic, do not burn used tyres, do not damage public facilities, and do not resist officers. Respect other members of the public who are carrying out their activities,” Erlyn stated.
