4,241 Ministry of Religious Affairs Lecturers Trained in Basic Competency Enhancement

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has organised the 2026 Basic Competency Enhancement Programme (PKDP), involving 4,241 affiliated lecturers as part of efforts to improve the quality and professionalism of teaching staff at its campuses. “PKDP is not merely about fulfilling administrative requirements for novice lecturers, but is a collective endeavour to build an excellent, moderate, and globally competitive academic culture,” said Director General of Islamic Education Amien Suyitno on Monday. The programme includes lecturers from State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN), Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIS), and non-Islamic religious higher education institutions under the ministry. It is being implemented through 20 host universities across various regions of Indonesia. The programme serves as a key instrument in preparing early-career lecturers to possess pedagogical, academic, and professional competencies that meet higher education standards. “Through this programme, we want to ensure that every lecturer has strong pedagogical competence, high academic integrity, and the ability to transform knowledge in ways that are relevant to the challenges of the times,” he said. Director of Islamic Higher Education Sahiron added that the 2026 PKDP is designed to strengthen lecturers’ fundamental abilities in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning processes oriented towards learning outcomes and student needs in the digital transformation era. The programme features five comprehensive main modules to reinforce novice lecturers’ competencies: Learning Design; Pedagogy: Approaches, Models, Strategies, Methods and Techniques; Scientific Writing; the Paradigm of Knowledge Integration; and Religious Moderation. These five modules serve as a crucial foundation for shaping professional, adaptive lecturers capable of integrating religious values with developments in science and technology.
