The Head of the Economy Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of Central Java Province, Johan Hadiyanto, has revealed that the absorption of broiler chicken eggs and chicken meat by the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) in Central Java is still very low. The SPPG is suspected to still be relying on raw material supplies from outside Central Java.

Johan stated that there are currently 4,044 SPPG operating in Central Java. Based on data collection by the Regional National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Central Java, each SPPG processes and serves an egg-based menu twice a week. Meanwhile, menus using chicken meat as raw material are served three times a week.

“On average, each SPPG absorbs 720,902 kilogrammes of eggs per week. As for chicken meat, it is 1,452,587 kilogrammes per week,” Johan revealed during a presentation at a coordination meeting on the implementation and supply chain of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme at the Central Java Provincial Government Office in Semarang City on Friday (12/6/2026).

According to Johan, the absorption of eggs and chicken meat is still considered low. He explained that the egg production potential in Central Java reaches 7.3 million tonnes per year. With a requirement of 720,902 kilogrammes per week, this means the eggs absorbed by the SPPG amount to approximately 37 million kilogrammes per year.

“This is only about 0.5 per cent of Central Java’s potential. Only 0.5 per cent has been absorbed so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chicken meat production potential in Central Java, Johan noted, is 5,472,763 tonnes per year. In a week, the SPPG in Central Java can absorb 1,452,587 kilogrammes of chicken meat. Thus, Johan stated that in a year, the SPPG in Central Java can absorb around 75,000 tonnes of chicken meat. “This is about 1.3 per cent for chicken meat,” he remarked.
