39,000 people for PON torch relay

JAKARTA (JP): Thirty nine thousand people will take part in
the trans-archipelago torch relay for the 14th National Games. It
is due to start from the Mrapen natural fire, Central Java, on
Friday next week.

The torch relay committee's secretary, Johannes Karsan, said
in Bandar Lampung yesterday that the figure had swollen from the
original number of 20,000.

All governors in the country, provincial legislative
assemblies and provincial sports bodies will be invited to attend
the relay's flag-off ceremony.

Mrapen, a village 70 kilometers southeast of Central Java's
capital Semarang, is one of three regular flame lighting origins
of the National Games. The other two are Madura and Arun in Aceh.
