388 Garuda School Students Accepted into Top Overseas Universities

The Sekolah Unggul Garuda Transformasi has achieved a record number of graduates accepted into top universities abroad.

This was announced by the Head of the Republic of Indonesia Communication Agency (Bakom RI), Muhammad Qodari, during a press conference at his office on Wednesday (18/8/2026).

Qodari explained that there was an increase of up to 177 percent in the number of Sekolah Unggul Garuda Transformasi graduates who passed the entrance selection for the world’s best overseas universities, reaching 388 students.

“The clearly measurable impact of this programme is the surge in Sekolah Unggul Garuda Transformasi students who successfully passed the entrance selection for the world’s best overseas universities, up 177 percent from 140 students in the previous 2024-2025 academic year to 388 students in 2025-2026,” he said.

Qodari explained that the students were accepted at various world-renowned universities, such as the University of New South Wales in Australia, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, the University of Toronto in Canada, and the University of California, Berkeley in the United States.

“Others were accepted at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands,” he added.

Sekolah Unggul Garuda Transformasi is a strengthening programme for existing senior high schools and Islamic senior high schools to enable them to optimise the potential of students and schools towards world-class education standards. The programme includes student development, teacher capacity building, and school management strengthening.
