386 Dompu Prison Inmates Receive Independence Day Remission, 1 Immediately Released

A total of 386 inmates at the Class IIB Prison (Lapas) in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), received general remission in conjunction with the 2026 Republic of Indonesia Independence Day. One of them was released immediately.

“Those who received remission numbered 386 people, and one person was released immediately in a theft case,” said Dompu Prison Head Arya Wiguna to detikBali on Monday (17/8/2026).

The presentation of remission certificates to the inmates was carried out in a ceremony held in the prison yard on Monday morning. The remission certificates were handed over symbolically by Dompu Regent Bambang Firdaus.

At this 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, general criminal inmates who received general remission (RU I) numbered 208 people, while RU II was granted to only one person (released immediately). Of that number, 14 people received six months’ remission.

Twenty-five people received five months, 23 people received four months, 62 people received three months, 41 people received two months, and 44 people received one month’s remission.

Meanwhile, Aria continued, inmates with special crimes numbered 177 people, with details as follows: 4 people received six months, 17 people received five months, 56 people received four months, 72 people received three months, 27 people received two months, and 1 person received one month.

“Those who received remission varied, from one month to six months. The criminal acts they committed also varied,” he explained.

Aria stated that Dompu Class IIB Prison currently houses 573 people. Of that number, there are 81 detainees on deposit and 492 inmates, including 13 female inmates.

“There is one inmate in a corruption case currently at Dompu Prison,” he said.
