37 Huntap Sites in Aceh Tamiang Ready for Construction, Three HGU Lands Still Under Negotiation
The government is accelerating post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aceh Tamiang, including the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for affected residents. Among the main focuses currently is resolving the land for communal huntap construction. Head of the Acceleration Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Command Post (PRR), Dr. Safrizal ZA, along with the DPR RI Disaster Management Coordination Post (Galapana) Coordinator TA Khalid, led a coordination meeting to expedite huntap land preparation at the Aceh Tamiang Regency Office on Saturday (23/5/2026). In the meeting, the government discussed the readiness of 40 proposed communal huntap sites by the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. Thirty-seven sites are ready for construction, while three others are still in the negotiation phase for HGU land release. Meanwhile, HGU land release processes from several other companies have been completed, including those owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN), PT Padang Palma Permai, PT Socfindo, PT Desa Jaya, and PT Bahruni. ‘As a speed-up solution, administrative documentation confirming HGU land release is needed as a basis for local government to begin construction on HGU land while awaiting the completion of asset transfer administrative processes,’ Safrizal stated in a press release on Monday (25/5/2026). The local government is also urged to calculate land requirements based on the Ministry of Public Works’ assessments, including for housing and supporting public facilities. ‘We hope coordination with companies can be resolved swiftly to ensure huntap construction proceeds according to schedule,’ Khalid said. He added that the government is currently focused on restoring Aceh post-disaster, including ensuring affected residents’ housing needs are met. He added that huntap locations have undergone various assessments, from social, economic, cultural aspects to disaster risk. ‘The selection of huntap construction sites has undergone thorough and careful evaluation,’ Safrizal said. Following the meeting, Safrizal and the Galapana team inspected an HGU site in Bukit Rata Village, planned as a huntap area. They also visited Huntara 3 Bukit Rata and handed out kitchen equipment assistance to 72 families still residing in temporary shelters.
