3.6m children in need of donation

JAKARTA: An estimated 3.6 million school children across the country are currently in need of donations to get proper education.

Chairperson of the National Movement of Foster Parents (GNOTA) Inten Soeweno said in Pekalongan, Central Java said on Thursday that since the establishment of GNOTA in 1996, the institution had donated Rp 125 billion in funds to 1.7 million school children.

In the meantime, Pekalongan Mayor Samsudiat said at least 1,897 elementary school children and 744 junior high school students needed financial help in 2002. -- Antara
