36 kgs of marijuana seized in Palembang

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Local city police confiscated on
Wednesday some 35.9 kilograms of marijuana from Syaiful Bahri,
24, a resident of Pidie in Aceh, and Ruslan, 46, a local
resident.

The marijuana was seized when the police raided a passenger
bus at the bus station in the city.

The City Police chief, Sr. Comr. Sutarman, said the raid was
conducted after the police received a tip on the marijuana from
local people.

"I want to thank the people who had conveyed the information
to the police. The two suspects who are still being interrogated
by police, will be brought to court," he said, adding that the
marijuana seized was meant to be distributed and sold in Jakarta.

He said the drug seizure was the largest since his appointment
to his current job two months ago. --JP
