36 'abang', 'none' meet Sutiyoso

JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso invited the 36 finalists of the 2003 Abang and None pageant to the main auditorium of City Hall on Wednesday.

The finalists of the pageant were the chosen candidates from similar pageants held in five municipalities and Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Islands) regency, beritajakarta news online reported.

They will compete in the final of the pageant on Aug. 8 at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), which is scheduled to be aired live by RCTI private television.

Wednesday's ceremony was attended by head of the city tourism agency Aurora Tambunan, Central Jakarta Mayor Hosea Petra Lumbun and head of public relations and protocol H Muhayat.

Similar pageant representatives from 10 other provinces, West Sumatra, Lampung, South Sumatra, Banten, East Java, East Kalimantan, West Java, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara and North Sulawesi, were also invited to the ceremony. -- JP
